The recent Examinations Network Conference at Flinders university in Adelaide was attended by three representatives from Scientia. The Examinations Network is growing - more than 70 delegates attended this year - so it provided a great opportunity to share experiences with Exam Scheduler users from across Australasia
The conference itself took place over two days, but was preceded by a day of training run by Scientia. There was a very diverse group of users who attended the training, ranging from old hands, to one user who had only seen the software the day before!
The two days of the actual conference was opened with an update by Andrew Lau (General Manager, Cyon) on what Scientia have been up to, and later in the first day, Colin Howlett (Exam Scheduler Product Manager) presented Scientia's plans for engaging and consulting with users on the requirements for a next-generation Exam Scheduler.
There were also a series of presentations from users on subjects as diverse as quality assurance in the exam process, electronic submission of exam papers, dealing with special needs students and working with external venues.
Graeme Burton of GB Consultants Pty Ltd made two useful presentations on using suitabilities within Exam Scheduler and using COM for reporting from ES and interfacing ES with Student records systems.
It wasn't all work, work, work however. There was also a very nice evening at the National Wine centre in Adelaide laid on on Thursday evening, which was enjoyed by pretty much everyone.
